Another Scrap Day

Despite my sore back, I was able to sit at my crafting table in my scraproom and get six layouts completed today. All of them are for Kennedy's scrapbook. Hopefully I will finish it this week and will be able to give it to Brooke on Friday or Saturday. So far things are looking great. The album is already 24 pages and I still have Christmas and birthday pictures to work with which will give me at least another six or eight layouts.
I'm getting excited for the new month! I am going to have a project published at scrapbooking.com in their on-line magazine. Then later in the month, I am hosting a crop party with several gals during a long weekend. During that weekend I will be posting a couple of challenge contests so our friends who cannot join us can play along. Ironically our crop is the same weekend as the annual "MS Crop for a Cure" here in Elizabethtown. We might be popping in there to say hello to familiar faces. The weekend should be a lot of fun!

It's a Week-end Crop

Okay, so a few of us are gathering for a week-end scrapping event in March. March 13 - 15 specifically. It will be the first annual "Restless Creativity Crop". This also coordinates with two other events in the area, the annual E'town MS Fundraiser Crop and the Kelly Panacci visit at Scrapbook Village in Glasgow. This is going to be a fun-filled weekend full of cropping, shopping and relaxing. In order to include those who cannot attend, we will be posting challenges throughout that weekend. There will be a layout contest where one winner will be selected for a special "RAK". Check back later for more details!

Fiskars Fun Day ~ Cave City

It was a great day for scrapping in Kentucky. Over 200 people gathered at the convention center in Cave City for a "Fiskars Fun Day" hosted by Scrapbook Village and other independent scrapbook stores in this region. Each shop set up tables with items for sale and had demonstrations of different Fiskars tools. The day consisted of four classes with some great "make and takes". Rebecca and Stephenie were just two of the teachers for the day.

One of the highlights of the day was getting to meet Pinky. I have known her for over a year, in the on-line world, and ended up spending the day with her. We had a blast and spent more time socializing than we did scrapping. We did get a few things accomplished, made a few cards and put together a couple of charity layouts. I'm already looking forward to next month. We are planning on getting together with a couple other gals and having a "week-end crop".

Challenge with a RAK

It's a new week and it's kicking off with a sketch challenge at The Shaker Box. Each week I post a sketch challenge on the message board, then each day another challenge is posted. It offers technique challenges, card challenges and more. If you haven't seen the site, sign up today and tell them I sent you! Here's the challenge posted today.

For the Willaert Family

I was heartbroken this morning when I learned that little Ellie passed away last night. Her short life here touched so many lives. The internet is an amazing thing. One of my friends, Pinky, is spearheading another campaign to help the family. Please visit her blog, Much Ado About Nothing, to read Ellie's story and to join in the donation she is working on for the family.

Progress Report

Well I've been working fast and furious on Kennedy's scrapbook. Brooke needs it at the beginning of March to display during Kennedy's birthday party. I've completed about ten layouts and hopefully will get a couple more done today. I decided to go with a "clean, simple" style and keep it traditional. So far, so good. Take a peek at my gallery to see more of Kennedy's album.

It's a New Look

Well, I think it's finished. I've "remodeled" my blog and am still trying to decide it I like it or not. I wanted something simple, but with a touch of flair. I really love the flourish and the Tiffany blue colors mixed with the brown. I think I will give it a few days and see if it's something that I can live with for a bit. Let me know what you think!

Under Construction

Can I say it? Crap! I was updating my blog, during a thunderstorm and my computer went wacko. Yes, you got it, my blog got hosed and now I have to redo it. I had a lot of the stuff saved, but have to relink my favorites and stuff. Oh well, it will give me something to do tonight while I'm watching television.

It's time to remodel...

Scrapbook Room

The room is organized and I'm ready to head down to do some scrapping! While the actual room is not completely finished, it's functional. My darling husband still needs to finish the ceiling, hang doors and do some trim work, but since the room is in the basement I'm in no rush.

I've got a table set up as a work area for my sewing machine, Cricut and printer. There is storage for magazines, my Bind-It-All and suppplies, Cricut cartridges and more. On the other side of the room I've put together storage for stamps, inks, paints, ribbon, chipboard, letter, flowers and other embellishments. The Making Memories wall unit was perfect for adding storage while not taking up floor space. At the end of my work tables, two 4' folding tables, I've put a bookcase to hold scrapbooks and items I plan on altering.

I continue to dream of having a studio built off the back of the house, something with a lot of windows for natural light and beautiful cabinetry to hold my collections of art supplies. Until that happens though, I can be very happy in my basement scraproom. I've got everything there I need.

Another Scrap Job

I've been hired to put together an album for a friend. I've done several for her already and she keeps coming back for more, so she must like them. Anyway, her daughter's birthday is approaching and she needs her yearly scrapbook completed before the party. I will be starting that this week. But first, I need to get a few things done for me. Right now I'm participating in a contest happening at the Life Preserver's Club and so far, so good. I'm waiting to find out if I'm moving on to the next round, and if I am then I need to work on a layout for that. Here's last week's layout.

I've started remodeling and organizing my scraproom. I've got a lot of room to work in but I wasn't using it to my advantage. By moving a few things around, I will be able to use the room for sewing and other projects. Also, with friends scheduling annual trips for local group crops, I'm going to need the extra working space. Hopefully we can get some scrapping done here at the house before we head off to meet the rest of the girls. I should be finished organizing in the next day or two and then will get some new pictures posted.

February Kit Creations

I started playing with my The Shaker Box monthly kit last night and was able to get a few layouts finished. The kit is fabulous and jammed packed with beautiful papers. Also, there was a great vintage frame included with the kit, so I broke out my Bind It All to make it into a mini album. Even after all that, I still have tons of goodies left to play with. I think I might just head back down to my scraproom to see what else I can create.

I've got several projects on the "back burner" and really would like to get them going now. Honestly, I should pack up some stuff and head over the the SpringHaven crop that's going on until Sunday evening. It just seems like a lot of work to pack up though.

Weekend Challenge

I posted a challenge for my friends at The Shaker Box, and thought I would share it here too. It's a Book of Me challenge. This is something I started last year, but haven't made much progress on lately. So, I thought by creating a challenge I could get my mojo going.

BOM Challenge: Create a single or double page layout, anysize for your BOM. Focus the layout on what it is you hope to accomplish this year, 2009. This should be a personal goal you've set for yourself. There are no reqs for this challenge except that it must be completed by Sunday the 8th at midnight. Use whatever mediums you would like, but make certain the focus is you and your goal.

Have fun with this one and let's see your creations!

Gabriella

She's a beauty, and a total sweetheart. I was watching a movie today, but also in the mood to do some scrapping. The solution? Digital scrapping on scrapblog.com. I am still learning the ropes with the digi stuff and using this great site and some of their freebies. The have also added some great stuff that you can get for a minimal charge. I have started several different scrapblogs on the site. You can find the link to it in the "My Stuff" section in the right column of this site. Enjoy!

Sketch Challenge

It's been a crazy week here in Kentucky! The ice storm we had left us without power for six days and I can honestly say that I was having serious technology withdrawls. But now all is right in my world and I have got my house back in order. Now I can get back into my scraproom and have some fun.

To get things started, I put together another sketch challenge. Nothing fancy mind you, but you can really dress this one up with bling and other embellishments. Hope you have fun with it!
